Genr8 wins outline planning for Stoke-on-Trent business district
Developer Genr8 has won initial planning consent for 540,000 sq ft of its plans to develop the Central Business District in Stoke-on-Trent, according to Property Week. The entire project could ultimately provide as much as 750,000 sq ft of office space in the centre of the city: it also includes public space, retail and leisure property, a hotel, and apartments.
Genr8 is now working on a detailed application for the initial phase, which will deliver 107,639 sq ft, and expects to lodge this later this year. It hopes to start work on the site early next year. Stoke council agreed to the development last summer, which it said at the time would create more than 4,000 jobs. Genr8, a joint venture between three former AMEC directors and Chelsfield Partners, is planning to carry out the development in stages until 2017.
