NewRiver makes progress on expansion in Newcastle and Peterborough
NewRiver Retail last week announced it had received detailed planning approval for the major redevelopment of its Forum Shopping Centre in Wallsend. The 91,000 sq ft retail property near Newcastle will be modernised and extended to include “significant new retail space” including a 46,000 sq ft food store and a 300-space car park.
The former Co-op store in the Forum centre will be remodelled to provide four large retail units totalling 28,500 sq ft and the centre will also undergo refurbishment to provide new entrances, lighting, signage, an upgrade to the roof areas and free wi-fi.
NewRiver Retail also announced that its application to extend the Deeping Centre in Market Deeping has moved into the final approval stages. The company wants to provide two new retail units of 8,000 sq ft and 10,000 sq ft respectively at the retail property near Peterborough, on a site where a print workshop – now demolished – formerly stood.
