10 More of our Favourite Desktop Gadgets
Almost three years ago, we looked at 15 quirky accessories that will brighten up your desk, a list of desktop gadgets for the office worker that has everything except financial restraint.
Since then, the tide of office curiosities hasn’t slowed down, so it seems as good a time as ever to update that list with some of the new office gadgets that we’re particularly enamoured with.
Bic Pen Lid Pen Pot
The award for “Most fun phrase to say quickly” goes to the Bic Pen Lid Pen Pot. Aside from having the best name since Englebert Humperdinck, the Bic Pen Lid Pen Pot is a stylish and ergonomic stationary tidy in the ironic guise of a misplaced lid, with the added bonus of replacing any gigantic stationary you’ve carelessly misplaced.
Ultimate Geek Pen
For those who like their stationary on the “regular” side of the size scale, the Ultimate Geek Pen is perfect for the application of ink to paper. But that’s not all; there’s a built in torch, stylus and UV light, as well as a laser pointer for presentations or, more likely, for tormenting cats with.
RoboHub 2000
Until their inevitable uprising and subsequent enslaving of humanity, robots are a pretty nifty thing to have around. None less so than the RoboHub 2000, who not only looks adorable in that 70’s sci-fi chic kind of way, but is also a cute little USB hub. His arms and legs each contain a USB port, providing a much nicer solution to all those unsightly wires protruding from your PC.
Multi-Tool Utility Case
There’s not an app in the world that could cut paper in half, file your nails and unscrew devices, but there’s certainly a phone case that can. The Multi-Tool Utility case might just be worth the import price given both how sleek it looks, and how useful it might well prove to be. Better yet, should your office ever be put in a life-threatening situation, you can win the hearts of your co-workers by using the utility case to concoct a MacGyver-esque escape plan.
Polar Pen
A pen made of magnets. It sounds simple enough to be boring, but a quick glimpse of this video demonstrates that the Polar Pen is anything but. Personally, I was sold the moment I witnessed the lid snap obligingly to the top of the pen from inches away, but then, I am a man of simple tastes.
Formcard
Impressive stuff. The Formcard is a business card-sized piece of polymer plastic that fits easily in your wallet. Get it hot, however, and it becomes a malleable putty, solidifying once it cools down. For quick, easy repairing of office tools or a makeshift kickstand for your tablet, the uses are numerous and, importantly, limited only by your own ingenuity.
3M Desk Organiser
Sure, it’s all well and good filling your desk with daft (yet useful) widgets, but let’s not forget the importance of your typical staples, clips and Post-Its. The 3M Desk Organiser is sleek and compact, useful not only for keeping you organised but leaving more space on your desk for interesting office toys.
Desktop Stress Buster
If you’re having a truly bad day, simply take your anger out on this handy desktop punching bag… and only ever on this desktop punching bag.
MoMA Perpetual Calendar
Part modern art, part time-keeper, this striking, minimalist calendar is made of simple string and magnets but adjusts sleekly and effortlessly with the flick of the wrist. Relive your fondness of the questionable Geometric art movement of the 80s, whilst reminding yourself just how far we’ve come at the same time!
Newton’s Cradle
Still, the old ones are the classics, hey?
