Resimercial property design
As hybrid work models continue to influence the design of office space we take a look at the rise of Resimercial design. Resimercial, short for residential commercial, is an interior design style that looks to combine components from residential and commercial property design.
The style has been found to be beneficial for both employees and customers. In an office that has the feel of a home employee productivity and sense of well being can improve. In office buildings, hotels, cafes and other public areas where customers gather, people are more likely to return to a place that feels inviting.
What does Resimercial design look like?
Resimercial incorporates open plan space with private spaces that allow workers to collaborate or work alone all within a short distance of each other.
No more regimented rows of desks and chairs either. Furniture features soft fabric settees and lounge chairs to help create a relaxing, casual space.
Sustainable, natural materials are often used to create such things as workstations or bookcases. There is a move towords incorporating large windows to allow in more natural light as well as having plenty of plants (biophilic design)
Where possible there is an increase in having outdoor and green space available including “air porches” which provide a false balcony when an actual one can not be used.
It looks as though the boundaries between what is a residential space and what is a commercial space are blurring. Home style creeps into the office and employees are investing more on their home office space with such things as coffee tables that can double as workstations, or again biophilic design to divide areas.
Increasingly technology is going to have to keep on improving both in the home and workplace to ensure both areas can communicate and collaborate.
Flexible design for work appears to be the key for businesses to adapt to changing needs and demands and Resimercial is just one approach to accommodate this.
