Hurst Warne: Woking Council Sells Victoria Gate To Surrey County Council For New HQ

Acting for building owner Woking Borough Council, Hurst Warne are delighted to announce the sale of Victoria Gate, Woking to Surrey County Council. Victoria Gate is a 67,000 sq ft office building situated in the centre of Woking. It was sold by previous owners Aviva to Woking Borough Council in 2018 for £41 million.
As part of the sale, automotive giant McLaren surrendered their lease which they held over the whole building until November 2038, moving staff back to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking.
Surrey County Council will use the building for their own occupation, relocating around 600 staff from its current home at Quadrant Court in Woking.
The building sale helps cement Woking’s position as one of the best performing South East office locations.
The town saw 101,000 sq ft of office take-up last year, 23% above the five-year average. 2024 has already seen 95,000 sq ft either let or sold and with another 21,000 sq ft under offer, the year promises to be one of the best on record.
As Woking’s leading office agent, Hurst Warne have advised on 100% of this year’s transactions and 55% of last year’s lettings.
