The property comprises a former waste transfer jetty
constructed in the mid 1980’s to unload container
waste from barges to the adjacent landfill. The jetty is
constructed 100 m (328 ft) into the main river channel so
it is available at all tide times. Most jetties on the tidal
Thames are wharfs and hence may operate only at
medium to high tide.
The building is of steel framed construction, clad to the
walls in profiled metal, with a pitched profiled metal
roof. It incorporates roller shutter doors at the end of
each channel and building mounted security and
navigation lights.

In addition there are external mooring piles to the north
and south and a pontoon on the landward side of the
main apron with a secured walkway.
Ancillary welfare and basic office accommodation is
provided by a small cabin and security by an electric
gate and further internal manual padlocked gate.
