Location

Loch Ewe View sits in an elevated position overlooking some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery to be found on the West Coast of Scotland. Aultbea lies along the west shore of Loch Ewe and benefits from a shop, post office, doctors surgery and garage. The community is friendly and welcoming.

The landscape of this part of the Northwest Highlands is awe-inspiring and home to a wide variety of wildlife. Otters, seals and red deer are all common sightings, not to mention the vast array of birdlife that abounds.

Loch Ewe View is close to the Aultbea Hotel which welcomes non-residents. Laide Wood (3 miles) is open all year round and has some pleasant forest walks to explore. On the far side of Laide village is The Ocean View Hotel that has a restaurant and bar which is also open to non-residents.

Clear, turquoise waters and a stunning white sheltered sandy beach awaits at Mellon Udrigle (6 miles) and the three, pink sand beaches of Gruinard Bay (7 miles) are also well worth a visit. If you are brave enough to take to the water, canoe or kayak paddling adventures can be arranged via Ewe Canoe.

Close by at Poolewe is the National Trust for Scotland’s Inverewe Gardens where the micro-climate created by the gulf stream enables some amazing, rare species of plants to thrive. A lucky few have even been fortunate enough to spot golden eagles during their visit.

Gairloch (12 miles) offers electric bike hire, pony trekking, glass bottomed boat cruises, paddle boarding and even canyoning. It also has an excellent 9-hole golf course, and a rather unique museum set in a converted nuclear bunker. The closest Primary schools are Bualnaluib Primary school (1 mile), Gairloch Primary School and Gairloch Secondary School.  The nearest railway station is at Achnasheen, which has trains either to Inverness or westwards through the scenic village Plockton to Kyle of Lochalsh. There is also a ferry service to the Isle of Lewis in the relatively nearby town of Ullapool. Dalcross Airport is 83 miles away in Inverness, and bus links are just 0.25 miles away.
