The Royal is centrally located within Stromness, in the Orkney islands. Stromness is Orkney’s second largest settlement having a thriving town centre and is steeped in a rich and enduring history making it a very popular destination for tourists throughout the year.
Stromness forms a good base for touring the various sites of historical interest the islands are famous for. These include the Heart of Neolithic Orkney, a World Heritage Site comprising the Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae, the Stones of Stenness and Maeshowe.
