Location Highlights



Cardiff Council commenced the development of the ISV in Cardiff Bay in 1999. It has been a complex long-term project which has involved extensive land reclamation, remediation and infrastructure.

In 2008 Cardiff International Pool opened, followed in 2010 by Cardiff International Water Rafting Centre, and latterly Ice Arena (Wales). These are the existing anchors.

Adjacent to these facilities is a former Toys R Us retail outlet now earmarked for a sporting Hub.

The Council is now focused on the implementation of the next phase of development on the peninsula including significant residential, leisure and infrastructure schemes

The key leisure proposals include the development of a new state of the art Velodrome with associated ancillary accommodation, a Closed Loop, complimentary sport and leisure services and activities within a central mixed leisure development and sports Hub within the refurbished former Toys R Us, and outstanding centralised areas of Public Realm.

This will create a cluster of top-class leisure facilities and a venue of sporting excellence and national reputation with anticipated visitors of 2m per annum
