The town is a main ferry port and railway terminal with a large number of daily ferry sailings to a variety of Inner and Outer Hebridean islands and with regular train services to Glasgow via the famous West Highland line. The town is a very popular tourist destination in its own right throughout the year however particularly in the summer months.
The town has an excellent range of retail, commercial and educational facilities as well as a leisure centre, two gymnasiums and cultural facilities. Oban has a resident population of around 9,000 people and a catchment of over 20,000, which increases significantly during the peak tourist season.
Situation
The subjects are situated on Shore Street in the centre of Oban, adjacent to the railway station and principal bus stop, and close to George Street, Oban’s premier retailing location. The subjects include an extensive car park, however there is on-street car parking in both Shore Street and Campbell Street with an additional town centre car park located opposite.
