Tredinnick Quarry, Road From Junction North Of Tre, Grampound Road, TR2 4BY

10.53 acres / Other

Withdrawn - Last updated: 08 January 2025

Tredinnick Quarry is a former gritstone quarry which has not been worked since 2007, and extends to 4.26 hectares (10.53 acres).

Since that time, the site has been kept secure and natural revegetation has occurred. Since it has been determined that there are no opportunities for further mineral extraction, the property presents a void space, suitable for the disposal of inert waste, to achieve a consented restoration profile.

The western element of the site presents a level platform where a weighbridge was historically located, along with the site's ancillary accommodation, none of which remains. The eastern element, provides the tipping void space.

The quarry has been excavated into land which slopes naturally to the east towards the River Fal.

Location Highlights

The quarry is located in a rural location on the western side of the Fal Valley, 1km north-west of the village of Grampound.

The quarry is located to the east of an unclassified public highway (Tredinnick Lane), which runs south towards the A390, which in turn is the main highway running east to west through the village. The A390 provides good links to St Austell (10.3km to the east), and Truro (14.6km to the west).

Access to the quarry is taken over third party land. The access off Tredinnick Lane is initially taken approximately 500m to the south of the property, across a tarmac surfaced access, with the benefit of a security gate. This leads to an unmade track, providing access to the western end of the quarry, which has an additional security gate together with palisade fencing.
