The village is located to the south west of Fraserburgh which in turn is on the northern coast of the Grampian area. Strichen is a popular commuter town for Fraserburgh, Peterhead and Aberdeen. The village has a resident population of around 1000 people. Fraserburgh is some 9 miles away, Peterhead some 16 miles and Aberdeen 35 miles.

The Inn occupies a central position within the village and benefits from a riverside location overlooking the historic stone bridge. The Inn has fishing rights for 2 miles along the River Ugie.

The property was acquired by the Landlord in 2014 and since purchasing the site he has carried out extensive refurbishments and improvements before granting a new Full Repairing and Insuring lease in September 2015.
