Built in 1936 b George Longden and Son, whose work included the building of the Sheffield City Hall, the Stock Building became an instant landmarkn the Sheffield Riverside. Known for years as OXO House, it was one of a new wave of moderist inspired buildings. It contrasted witht eh old Victorian factory buildings that dominated the River Don.
Plan b developments have capitalised on the existin design opportunities offered by the large floor plates, strength of construction, high window to wall ratio and features of the original warehouse.
Combining this with utilisation of the latest WOHR lift parking syste, the building will provide a distinctive work environment and a significant landmark within Sheffield's Nursery Riverside.
Location
The Stock Building is located in a prominent position within "Sheffield Riverside", an emerging business area bounded by new inner relief road and the river. Joiner Street has excellent links to the Parkway, M1 junctions 33 & 34 and the local public transport network. The building is within 5 minutes walk to the city centre and is surrounded by ample multi-storey and on street parking. Additional multi-storey parking is anticipated as part of the new area master plan.
