THE CROSSING IS GOING TO PROVIDE 16,000 SQ FT OF NEW EXCITING FOOD AND BEVERAGE SPACE ON THE LINK BRIDGE BETWEEN THE BRUNEL PLAZA AND THE ARCADE WHICH MAKE UP THE CENTRE. IT WILL BE MADE UP OF 7 UNITS AND A FURTHER 2 KIOSKS.
There is a gap in the food service offer in Swindon which The Crossing will fill. The many workers and families don’t have a central food hub where they can get good quality food quickly.
There is a great rationale for creating food and beverage space. The centre currently has 4.9% of the centres area as food service space. Analysing comparable town centre shopping centres we believe there is capacity to increase this to 8% which would equate to an additional 16,000 sq ft of food service. The area will be accessed from a new external ground floor escalator which will directly link it to the prime shopping areas of The Parade and Regent Street in Swindon. It will also be directly accessed on the 1st floor from the main car park servicing the shopping centre.
The link-bridge will be completely redesigned with new glazing and design graphics to promote the space and allow shoppers to see the new development from the outside and allow diners to enjoy the view. The layout of The Crossing will include two distinct nodes, one based on families with a play area and another based on work with areas providing mobile phone charging points, free wifi and work stations.
Other facilities in The Crossing will include promotional areas for new and exciting reasons to visit, collection points for shopping and refurbished WC’s.
